About me

Hey, I’m Mahadi. Let me tell you how a village kid from Bangladesh ended up writing code in Tokyo.

I grew up right on the bank of the Meghna. If you’ve never seen it, imagine a river so wide it feels like the sea. My childhood was boat rides with the neighbours and cricket matches that only ended when nobody could see the ball anymore. My family is Muslim, and at home two things were non-negotiable: discipline and honesty. Funnily enough, those turned out to be pretty useful in software too.

My first time on a computer? 2009, in my school’s computer lab. No big plan, I was just curious what this thing could do. Spoiler: quite a lot.

At sixteen I packed a bag and moved to Dhaka, alone, for college. If you want a crash course in growing up, try surviving Dhaka on your own as a teenager. Somewhere along the way I kept collecting scholarships and Golden GPA 5s, which made my parents very happy.

Then came the big bet: computer science at university. And honestly? My first coding courses almost made me quit. I was convinced I just wasn’t built for this. Then a Java course came along and something clicked. I graduated in 2019 with a 3.94, so I guess it worked out.

My career started before I’d even finished my degree. In my final semester I joined Divine IT in Dhaka as a software engineer. Two years later I was a senior engineer, and a Japanese company called Resonest reached out with a remote role. Six months after that, I was on a plane to Tokyo. Life moves fast sometimes.

These days I’m a Senior Software Engineer at Kraken, building backend systems in Python and Django for a platform that runs more than 70 million accounts. Yes, that number still scares me a little.

Outside work, life’s honestly pretty good. I got married in 2025, and we’ve got a little one on the way. When I’m not at my desk, I’m probably planning the next trip, experimenting in the kitchen, or hanging out with friends.

So that’s me. This site is where I share all of it: the code, the trips, the mistakes, and whatever I learn along the way. Grab a coffee and stick around.
